In celebration of Women’s month, the Batangas State University held its very first campus-wide Song Writing Contest exclusively for its students and employees last March of this year. The activity was facilitated by the University extensionists who did such great jobs on this one!
I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try so I submitted a (very) rough draft record of my original composition entitled, “The Brave and Beautiful” (will be posting a good record, soon). I wrote the song way back 2013 and was originally inspired by the special women of my life, my two sisters and my mom.
After deliberation, three (3) entries were chosen as winners and one of them was mine! Yay!
During the awarding ceremony, the places of winners were announced and I got in 3rd place. Not bad, eh?
My turn for the live performance of song entries.
That’s me receiving the Certificate of Recognition as 3rd Place Winner for the Gender and Development Song Writing Contest 2015, with the University President, Dr. Ronquillo (left), and VP for Research, Extension and Dev’t, Dr. Quinay (right).
Each of us winners received a fair amount of token (ka-ching!) and an awfully sweet piece of recognition certificate.
I’ve long wanted to share some of my compositions and this has been a great opportunity for me to express my love for music.
Hope to share some more of my compositions here! I’ll keep you posted!
